Auckland International Student Welcome 2009
On 26th February the students from Kiwi English Academy joined 1600 international students, for the Auckland International Student Welcome at the Aotea Centre in Auckland City.
The lively MC taught the audience the Maori greeting, Kia Ora, before we settled down to enjoy the speeches and performances at this well-organised, entertaining event.
The Maori Cultural group from Mt. Albert Grammar School performed an exciting Maori war dance. Then another dance troupe, Torotoro, performed a fast-paced routine of traditional and contemporary dance before inviting members of the audience up on stage to participate.
Prizes had been donated by various Auckland tourist companies and Vladimir, from Kiwi English Academy, won a trip for two on a whale and dolphin watching cruise.
Every student was presented with a gift bag of snacks and tourist Auckland city certainly made everybody feel welcome.
